Our reviewers pick the top shows:
TRUE COLORS THEATRE
‘Miss Evers’ Boys’
A Kenny Leon’s troupe inaugurates the new 375-seat theater at Fulton County’s Southwest Arts Center with David Feldshuh’s disturbing, wry, sentimental take on the infamous Tuskegee study. (Pierre Ruhe)
Through Saturday. 404-588-0234, www.truecolorstheatre.org.
AURORA THEATRE
‘Duets’
B Don Finney and Marianne Fraulo star in Peter Quilter’s series of one-acts on relationships. Nothing is funnier than the blind-date spoof, in which the outrageously nervous Jon tries to pour a drink for nerdy/sweet teetotaler Wendy. OMG. (Wendell Brock)
Through March 29. 678-226-6222, auroratheatre.com
ATLANTA LYRIC THEATRE
‘The It Girl’
B- A delightful flapper musical about love and class conflict, based on the silent film starring Clara Bow. (Pierre Ruhe)
Through March 22. Strand Theatre, Marietta. 404-377-9948, www.atlantalyrictheatre.com
ALLIANCE THEATRE
‘Class of 3000 Live’
B- Based on the Cartoon Network series by André Benjamin and Tommy Lynch, this children’s show about a famous musician who goes to teach at an Atlanta performing arts school is splashed with indelible personality and quirky storytelling. Though it never quite cranks its thang up, it deserves an “E” for effort.
Through March 29. Woodruff Arts Center. 404-733-5000, alliancetheatre.org.
