Ghost Tales & Trails at Woodstock City Center

A group of veteran storytellers open their telltale hearts for this seasonal event. Guests gather to hear the yarn spinners dish spooky stories based on Woodstock history. The storytellers include Cowboy Texas Red, Jason Wilson, Amy McGraw, Hannah Schug and Jessica Williams. No need to get spooked about a potential dark and stormy night. Most performances take place indoors.

Eric Litwin and Michael Levine Book Release Celebration at Eddie Owen Presents at Red Clay Theatre

Fans of “Pete the Cat” children’s books should be purring with delight. Litwin, author of the series and the singer-songwriter of its accompanying music, joins “Pete the Cat” music producer Levine for a book release concert. It’s a celebration for “Pete the Cat Saves Christmas,” featuring Litwin’s words and the art of James Dean. Litwin and Levine are co-founders of The Learning Groove, a music and movement curriculum for kids. These multi-instrumentalists deliver their brand of “interactive literacy” by encouraging audience members of all ages to sing and dance along, and hopefully take home a passion for reading.

Halloween Costume Contest at Treetop Quest at Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center

Those aren’t spooks haunting the sprawling mass of trees next to the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center. Thrill-seeking adults and kids are the figures you see up there. They’re using ropes and zip lines while making their way through this adventure obstacle course. Yet, it might be easy to get the climbers confused with spectral creatures on Oct. 27-28. That’s when guests are encouraged to wear costumes for a special contest. On those two days the staff will be snapping pictures of those donning their Halloween best. The winners of two age groups (4 to 12 and 12 to 88) will each score a Treetop Quest Vertigo Season Pass.
