WOODSTOCK
‘Alice in Wonderland’ at Woodstock City Center
Things are getting curiouser and curiouser as Elm Street Cultural Arts dives into the rabbit hole with its version of “Alice in Wonderland.” The cast members, both kids and adults, don their striking Wonderland best against vibrant backdrops. Kyle Eason and Brett Leverette put their own spin on the tale, helping bring all those surreal characters to life. No need to rub your eyes when Alice takes the stage. Yep, there are two actresses playing the title character. Since Alice changes size throughout the story, Carys Jeffrey and Zoe Ribley play the small and tall Alice, respectively. Those who bring a can of soup, stew or chili to donate to Papa’s Pantry get to tip back a free drink at intermission.
7:30 p.m. Fridays; 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Nov. 9-18. $10 advance; $12 at the door. Woodstock City Center, 8534 Main St., Woodstock. 678-494-4251, www.elmstreetarts.org.
SANDY SPRINGS
Amy Schumer at The Punchline
Don’t let the grown-up-prom-queen looks fool you. Schumer’s brand of stand-up teeters on the edge. It’s how she lured viewers with the popular Comedy Central special “Mostly Sex Stuff.” Even if you missed it, you may know her face as she’s popped up everywhere from HBO to Adult Swim and from “Kimmel” to “Conan.” For your own sake, consider keeping the heckling under wraps. Her website (www.amyschumer.com) features a 2009 video of Schumer putting a loudmouth Punchline audience member in her proper place.
8 and 10 p.m. Nov. 9; 6, 8 and 10 p.m. Nov. 10. $36.75. The Punchline, 280 Hilderbrand Drive, Atlanta. 404-252-5233, www.punchline.com.
MORROW
Jupiter String Quartet at Spivey Hall
The award-winning four-piece makes classical noise all over the globe. In fact, it played its first complete cycle of Beethoven quartets at the 2011 Aspen Music Festival. This time it will be landing at Spivey Hall performing some Haydn, some Berg and Schubert’s final quartet. Liz Freivogel handles the viola, Daniel McDonough tackles the cello, and Nelson Lee and Meg Freivogel both show their skills on violin. So what makes these young, classical musicians tick? Find out at a pre-concert talk at 7:15 p.m.
8:15 p.m. Nov. 10. $50. Spivey Hall, Clayton State University, 2000 Clayton State Blvd., Morrow. 678-466-4200, www.spiveyhall.org.
