Celebrating St. Patrick's Day is easy to do. All you need is a group of your friends and beer (and something green).
But if you're looking to step outside of the box and enjoy St. Patrick's Day in a different way, there is plenty to do in the Atlanta-area. And, don't worry, most of them still involve food and beer.
From family friendly events at Atlantic Station and Avalon to a performance of U2's "The Joshua Tree" in its entirety, here are five ways to celebrate over the next two weekend:
Shamrock and Shenanigans
Meehan’s Public House in Buckhead won’t just have drink specials and Irish food during their St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The restaurant will also host live music throughout the day, including Fighting Foos, a Foo Fighters Tribute band.
If You Go: noon. March 12 at Meehan’s Public House, 322 East Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta. Cost: $15 (before the event). Facebook.com/meehansbuckhead.
Shamrock the Station Festival
Meehan’s is also hosting an event at Atlantic Station in collaboration with Radio 105.7 and Guinness. Shamrock the Station is a one-day festival that will feature live music from bands such as The Strumbellas, Irish cuisine, beer and more. The event is open to all ages.
A $5 wristband will allow guests who are 21 years old and older to purchase drinks.

Luck of Avalon
Avalon’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities will have activities for children and adults. Starting with face painting and a candy bar for children, The Plaza will host live music throughout the day. Green beer will be served for guests to enjoy as they walk around the mixed-use community.
