Holyfield, wife finalize divorce

By Christopher Seward

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Former heavyweight boxer Evander Holyfield has ended his nine-year marriage to his wife, Candi, according to the entertainment site TMZ, citing divorce court documents.

The divorce was finalized in July, TMZ reported, but terms were not disclosed. The two were married in July 2003.

It's the latest chapter for Holyfield, who has been in the news frequently this year. In March, Holyfield's Fayette County 109-room mansion, which had been in and out of foreclosure, was sold to J.P. Morgan Chase for $7.5 million, and he recently moved out.

Holyfield recently acknowledged that a Beverly Hills auctioneer will be putting up a trove of his belongings for bid on Nov. 30. The items include the former boxer's championship rings and belts; gloves, trunks and robes worn inside the ring; signed promotional photos and posters; jewelry including watches from Rolex, Cartier and Patek Phillippe and Holyfield's 1962 Chevrolet Corvette.

His marriage with Candi Holyfield was rocky. In 2010, she filed for a protective order against Holyfield, claiming he assaulted her in front of their two children. She accused the boxer of hitting her in the face, the back of her head and on her back during the middle of the night.

Holyfield, who has 12 children by six women, also has battled child support cases in Georgia, Texas and California. He has fought to renegotiate the payments, arguing that his income has fallen off since he left the ring, although he has been attempting a comeback.
