It might be time to update the name of the Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta theater series to Broadway Musicals in Atlanta.

For the third consecutive year, its lineup will be comprised entirely of hit musicals.

The 2013-14 schedule, being announced exclusively Thursday in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, will include recent Tony Award winners “Once” and “American Idiot.” Along with the previously announced “The Book of Mormon,” that makes a powerful triumvirate of titles hot-wired to pop culture that have pushed musicals on the Great White Way in different directions.

“Mormon,” the religion and musicals-tweaking satire from “South Park’s” Trey Parker and Matt Stone and “Avenue Q’s” Robert Lopez that won nine 2011 Tonys, hits town Jan. 28-Feb. 9, 2014. An eight-time Tony winner last year, “Once,” the romantic tale of a Dublin busker and Czech pianist and featuring Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová’s sweet songs, arrives March 4-9, 2014. “American Idiot,” a two-time 2010 Tony winner about three friends choosing between suburbia and the city and based on Green Day’s Grammy-winning rock album, plays the week of April 28, 2014.

Other spectacles coming to the Fox Theatre in Broadway in Atlanta’s 2013-14 season: “Ghost” (Nov. 5-10), “The Lion King” (April 10-27, 2014) and “Evita” (June 3-8, 2014).

The profusion of musicals is no coincidence, of course. Broadway in Atlanta regularly surveys Atlantans, who also vote for musicals with their feet.

Subscription packages (all six shows), $199-$559, are on sale: 1-800-278-4447, www.broadwayinatlanta.com. Single tickets typically are available eight to 12 weeks before each show.
