Here's a look at movies opening Thanksgiving week in Atlanta:

“Silver Linings Playbook”

Starring Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro and Chris Tucker. Directed by David O. Russell.    Plot: Two people struggling to rebuild their lives in this sharp romantic comedy.    What to expect: A feel-good film with quick dialogue and solid performances.   

“Anna Karenina”

Starring Keira Knightly, Jude Law and Aaron Johnson. Directed by Joe Wright.    Plot: Adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s novel about the capacity of love in the human heart.    What to expect: A gorgeous period drama constructed as a blend of theater and film.   

“Red Dawn”

Starring Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson and Chris Hemsworth. Directed by Dan Bradley.    Plot: Teens fight to save their town from an invasion of North Korean soldiers.    What to expect: Has a lot to live up to because the original 1984 movie is a cult classic.   

“Life of Pi”

Starring Suraj Sharma and Irrfan Khan. Directed by Ang Lee.    Plot: An Indian boy is adrift at sea with a Bengal tiger.    What to expect: A visual feast.

“Rise of The Guardians”

Starring Chris Pine, Hugh Jackman and Alec Baldwin. Directed by Peter Ramsey.    Plot: Immortal Guardians (like Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny) team up to protect children.    What to expect: Familiar characters will entertain young and old.
