Going out on the town on New Year’s Eve doesn’t have to be confined to the city streets of the Big Peach. Entertainment is bubbling outside the Perimeter, too. We pop the cork and reveal a few options.
MARIETTA
The Jagged Stones at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre
Tickets to the Rolling Stones’ recent 50th anniversary concert in New Jersey reportedly topped out at $18,000 each on StubHub. The Jagged Stones, one of the country’s best Stones tribute bands, offer a more cost-effective alternative. Lead vocalist Stephen Skipper not only has the identical voice to Mick Jagger, but an uncanny resemblance. Guitarist Barry Zion slinks and slithers while riffing like Keith Richards. The rest of the group, including keyboardist Dave Lang, bassist Joel Edwards, drummer Martin Abbott and lead guitarist Ed Brodeur, replicate those familiar strains. And they’ll have a horn section and background singers in tow. Acclaimed local ax man Barry Richman and band open the evening. The nearby Marietta Hilton is offering a special deal. Plop down $199 and get a room, a pair of tickets, transportation to and from the venue and breakfast for two on New Year’s Day. All ages will be admitted.
9 p.m. Dec. 31. $35. Earl Smith Strand Theatre, 117 N. Park Square, Marietta. 770-293-0080, www.earlsmithstrand.org.
DULUTH
Little Big Town at Wild Bill’s
Fans of the popular country vocal group have been snatching up tickets to this one. Little Big Town’s niche is those acclaimed four-part vocal harmonies. Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet share the spotlight and recently snagged a pair of Country Music Association awards. The group is up for a Grammy, so expect plenty of tunes from its latest album, “Tornado.” Nashville-based singer-songwriter Drake White gets the party started. Tickets include party favors, a balloon drop and a midnight champagne toast. According to Ticketmaster, all reserved seats have been spoken for, but general admission tickets remained at press time. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. A dance party takes place after the performers and lasts until 2:30 a.m.
9:30 p.m. Dec. 31. $30; does not include Ticketmaster fees. Wild Bill’s Atlanta, 2075 Market St., Duluth. 1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com.
SNELLVILLE
Wild 105.7 New Year’s Eve Party at Eastside Station
Wild 105.7 radio personality Checka Cee presides over the weekly Friday night dance party at Eastside Station. But don’t expect business as usual New Year’s Eve when Cee, cohort DJ Kidd and rap heavyweight Bone Crusher serve as hosts. DJ Kidd will be spinning danceable music by artists Wild 105.7 listeners will recognize. Think Flo Rida, Rihanna, Ne-Yo and others. A complimentary champagne toast drops at midnight, and drink specials flow throughout the event. Organizers say the doors will remain open until 3 a.m. Guests 18 and older are allowed inside.
8 p.m. Dec. 31. $5 advance, $10 at the door ages 21 and older; $10 advance, $15 at the door ages 18-20. Eastside Station, 2166 Highpoint Road, Snellville. 770-985-3332, www.eastsidestation.com.
SANDY SPRINGS
Bridget Everett at the Punchline
The over-the-top musical comedian might bust a ridiculously raunchy rhyme about a teenage make-out session. The next moment she’s placing her plus-size frame on an unsuspecting audience member and delivering a lap dance. Her unapologetic vulgarity often finds Everett stripping down to a bra and panties. She’s repeatedly made New York City best-of lists for her cabaret act, but is perhaps best known for her role as Shonda on the CBS sitcom “2 Broke Girls.” Famous friends such as Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Adam Horovitz of Beastie Boys are known to sit in, so keep your eyes peeled.
6, 8 and 10 p.m. Dec. 31. $30 (6 p.m.); $40 (8 p.m.); $50 (10 p.m.). The Punchline, 280 Hilderbrand Drive, Atlanta. 404-252-5233, www.punchline.com.
