The pumpkin spice pizza is coming to Villa Italian Kitchen on Friday, so there's that.

Charles Ranhofer published “The Epicurean” in the 1890s, and it remains one of the most venerable cookbooks in existence on thousands of flavor combinations.

Pumpkin spice pizza appears nowhere in the expansive text.

Yet, nearly 125 years later, a national pizza chain will sell slices of the stuff.

Villa Italian Kitchen, which has locations in Cumberland Mall and  Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, is bringing the pizza to its 230 stores on Friday — the first day of fall.

Published Sept. 6 when we were all so young and naive: Have we reached peak pumpkin spice?

A press release with the subtle title “IT’S LIKE FALL IN YOUR MOUTH” explains the ingredients: regular pizza crust, a sauce layer of pumpkin puree (featuring nutmeg, clove and cinnamon), then 100 percent whole milk mozzarella cheese topped with dollops of more puree.

A slice of that will cost about $4.

“There’s no denying that everyone loves pizza, so combining our hit Neapolitan Cheese Slice with the delicious fall flavors of pumpkin spice just made sense,” said spokeswoman Mimi Wunderlich.

The company said this is a one-off and will be available while supplies last.
