Mable House Arts Center will scatter thousands of candy canes around its grounds for children to find.

Some children in Cobb County will have much better-smelling breath than usual this weekend.

That’s because the Mable House Arts Center and the county’s parks department are again hosting a candy cane hunt.

It’ll be on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon on the historic grounds.

Children will have the chance to hunt for thousands of candy canes scattered throughout the historic grounds at 5239 Floyd Road.

There will also be marshmallow roasting and cookie decorating along with supplies to build mini gingerbread houses at the free event.

Santa will also be there to take pictures with children.

The house was owned by the Mable family, for whom Mableton is named. The state says that house, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, was used as a hospital during the Civil War.

Here’s to hoping there’ll be no such battles over candy canes on Saturday.
