Oceanaire: Blue Hawaiian

Published on: 04/07/2005

KING OF HAWAII

Elvis loved Hawaii, so the King might've enjoyed a Blue Hawaiian martini at Oceanaire Seafood Room (1100 Peachtree St., Midtown). It combines 3 ounces of Bombay Sapphire Gin with a half-ounce of blue curacao and (if you like) a half-ounce of dry vermouth. Pair the libation with half-price oysters or a shrimp cocktail weekdays from 3 to 6 p.m.

HAWAIIAN MARTINI
3 oz. Bombay Sapphire Gin 1/2 oz. blue curacao 1/2 oz. dry vermouth (optional) Combine all ingredients in a shaker over ice, shake and pour into a very large chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

CRUSH ON STRAWBERRIES

Not sure what's being crushed in the Smirnoff Strawberry Crush. Still, it has a nice ring to it. The vodka mavens advise 1 1/2 ounces of Smirnoff Strawberry Twist, 2 ounces of orange juice and a half-ounce of grenadine or cranberry juice. It's built up in a tall glass and garnished with a strawberry.

PRACTICING VOODOO

Probably the only way you'll get sand in your shoes in Marietta is if you stumble into a kid's sandbox. That doesn't keep Hemingway's Tropical Bar & Grill (29 W. Park Square, Marietta) from bringing the beach to the square. Its Voodoo Juice goes cuckoo with flavored rums (orange, pineapple, coconut and banana). Cranberry, orange and pineapple juices help cut the booze.
