Rosa Mexicano's Tequila FlightsPublished on: 06/01/2006
TAKE A FLIGHT, TEQUILA STYLE
Keep your feet on the ground, but soar high at Rosa Mexicano (245 18th St. N.W., Atlantic Station) with its tequila flights. Each flight, available in three different levels or tiers, contains three shots. The Blanco tier features unaged tequilas like Patrón, Espolón and Corazón ($12 per tier). Its Reposado tier includes caramel and butterscotch-tinged tequilas — like Don Julio, Sauza Hornitos and Jose Cuervo Gold — that have been aged up to one year in wood barrels ($14). High-end, sipping tequilas come in the Añejo tier. Brands including Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia, Sauza Tres Generaciones and El Jimador are aged up to six years in bourbon barrels ($16).
SOTTO SMOOTH
The variety of flavors found in the Italian cocktail menu at Sotto Sotto (313 North Highland Ave., Atlanta) rival mama mia's spice rack. Its Milano combines Beefeater gin, Galliano liqueur and lemon juice. The Sunkissed Godmother is all about fruit and nuts, with Grey Goose orange vodka, amaretto and a splash of orange juice. And 'tenders get decadent with the Nutella Martini, a mix of Frïs vodka, Godiva chocolate liqueur, Frangelico and cream.
MESS OF MARTINIS
More than 50 martinis make up the menu at Olives Waterside (6450 Powers Ferry Road, Atlanta). The list runs deep with selections like the Key Lime Pie and Chocolate Raspberry Truffle. But ask manager/party planner Lisa Weiss her favorite and she quickly shoots back an answer. The Pink Diamond reigns supreme, she explains, with vodka, peach schnapps and splashes of cranberry and pineapple juices. "What woman wouldn't want one," she says.
