Georgia Tech Hotel's Yellow Jacket MartiniPublished on: 07/07/2005
YELLOW JACKET BUZZ
A Georgia Tech-themed cocktail is being engineered tonight and every Thursday through August at the Martinis & Jazz Summer Series. The Georgia Tech Hotel & Conference Center (800 Spring St. N.W., Midtown) hosts the event and the Yellow Jacket Martini is one of the specialty drinks on the menu. Absolut Citron vodka, Limoncello and vermouth help create a buzz of another kind.
HPNOTIQ PATRIOTISM
Still feeling patriotic after the holiday? The creators of Hpnotiq have an all-American way to experience this blend of vodka, fruit juices and cognac. The Patriotic Margarita is a red, white and blue concoction. One ounce each of dark rum, coconut milk, and lime and pineapple juices are poured into a blender with ¸ cup of ice. One ounce of Hpnotiq is poured into a margarita glass. Two-thirds of the mixture is then poured into the glass. Pour 1 ounce of sweetened strawberry puree into the remaining blended mixture and blend. Then pour it into the margarita glass. Garnish with coconut.
HEAVENS TO BETSY
No doubt Fourth of July revelers were tipping back the Betsy Ross cocktail at Epstein's Bar on New York's Lower East Side. It may have been invented at this American bar and given an American title. But it's made up of Russian and French booze. One ounce each of Stoli vodka and Chambord are poured into a tall glass with ice. A preferred amount of lemonade is added, and this old glorious cocktail is then stirred.
