Twelve Atlantic Station's Twelve MartiniPublished on: 12/15/2005
A GLASS OF TWELVE
Twelve Atlantic Station hasn't been in the Atlanta skyline long, but this hotel and residency already has a namesake cocktail — the Twelve Martini. Amanda Thomas, manager of in-house bar Lobby (361 17th St.), developed the drink in which Liquor 43 hits the glass with homemade Key Lime mix and a splash of cream. Be careful, a few of these and you may not be able to count to 12.
UNDER THE MISTLETOE
Whether it's candy canes, chocolate or peppermint candy, the holidays are when things get minty. Baileys offers another route with the Minty Mistletoe. In a rocks glass, pour 2 ounces of Baileys Irish Cream and a quarter ounce of peppermint schnapps over ice. Garnish with mint leaves, and it might start snowing like in those York Peppermint Patty commercials.
SHOP AND DRINK
Holiday shopping can take its toll. Sometimes you just need to put down the bags and pull up a barstool. Osteria 832 (832 North Highland Ave., Virginia-Highland) might be the refuge you're looking for. On Mondays, they have Pabst Blue Ribbon beer for $1. Bottles of wine are half-price on Tuesdays. And Wednesdays feature the "a pint and a pie" special, which pairs a pizza with a pint of beer for $10.
