SPIRITS

Celebrate the latest 'X-Men' film with Beast Juice

Published on: 05/25/2006

DRINK LIKE A BEAST

Event movies rule the megaplex on Memorial Day weekend. And "X-Men: The Last Stand" will be in the mix. It's a mutant smorgasbord with all of your favorite characters returning, including Wolverine, Magneto, Storm and Rogue. But the big surprise is Dr. Frasier Crane himself — Kelsey Grammer — as the fuzzy blue Beast. In honor of the comic hero hitting the silver screen, Spirits suggests downing Beast Juice. The recipe from www.drinksmixer.com calls for white rum, Mountain Dew Code Red soda and Red Bull. Let the mutation begin.

RAGE ON

Looking for rum indulgence? Raging Burrito (141 Sycamore St., Decatur) has it in the Raging Punch 151. A trio of rums — Bacardi 151, dark and coconut — mixes with grenadine and pineapple and orange juices. And coating the stomach with a jumbo burrito might be the best way to prepare for a night of indulging in this stiff drink.

RED-HEADED STRANGER

Mexican restaurant and tequila bar Pozole (1044 Greenwood Ave., Virginia-Highland) has a laundry list of colorful drinks. The Citrus Pucker Cocktail, the Blue Diablo and the La Floridita Martini are just a few. But the most striking title may be its Red Headed Mexican. The ingredients are simple: Jose Cuervo tequila, lemon lime soda and a splash of cranberry juice.
