Georgia Tech Half-and-HalfPublished on: 08/31/2006
CHOOSE SIDES
If Georgia Tech beats Notre Dame here on Sept. 2, Irish eyes will still be smiling at Meehan's Public House. Drink specials for the day include $4 Guinness, Smithwick's and Harp beers. Bartenders will also be pouring half-and-half beers in Tech and Notre Dame team colors. And fans wearing Tech or Notre Dame apparel or colors get 20 percent off their food bills. The game will be televised at all Meehan's locations in Alpharetta, Buckhead, Sandy Springs and Vinings.
FOR GIRLS AND BOYS
Sweet Devil Moon (980 Piedmont Road, Atlanta) serves discounted drinks two nights a week. On Tuesdays, glasses of sangria go for $3 each. Martini Night is on Wednesdays when well martinis sell for $5 each. Popular ones include the pomegranate martini and the passion fruit martini.
SNAKES IN A GLASS
There's no escaping the hype surrounding the movie "Snakes on a Plane." If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. The folks at www.cocktailparlor.com suggest the Snake Venom. Fill half a pint glass with lager and the other half with cider. Finish it off with a shot of Pernod or Sambuca liqueur. Follow it with a 747 cocktail. It takes 1 ounce of vodka, equal parts Rose's lime juice and cranberry juice, and a splash of Sprite.

Georgia Tech Half-and-Half
9 oz. Guinness Draught (either in a nitro can or on tap)
9 oz. Harp Lager
Chilled 20 oz. glass
Hold glass at an angle and fill just over halfway with 9 oz. of Harp. Hold a spoon upside down over the top of the glass. Slowly pour 9 oz. of Guinness over the spoon and into the glass. The spoon helps to evenly disperse the Guinness and keeps it from mixing with the Harp.
