SAVOR, a fine food shop and deli in Buckhead, is a pretty swanky place. You can find everything from antiques, linens and high-end kitchenware to artisan cheeses and fancy jams and jellies, all expertly and lovingly purveyed and curated by owners January and Robert Hodgson. But for a quick take-away lunch, the made-fresh-to-order sandwiches are surprisingly reasonably priced at $6-$7 — especially considering the quality of the ingredients.
EUROPEAN STYLE: Inside the small storefront in the Buckhead West Village, the atmosphere is more like something you might find in Europe or at least Napa Valley. The space is crammed with vintage furniture, much of it used to display the likes of wine glasses, escargot forks and cast-iron cocottes. On the edible side, there's a huge array of 75-plus estate, extra-virgin olive oils from pretty much every producing region on Earth; and some 30 vinegars, including the Savor house brand, a rich balsamic with emulsified figs. There's also a big assortment of sea salts, sauces and marinades, handmade pasta, and crackers.

MEAT-CHEESE-MORE: Cheese is displayed in an open case, and owners are happy to give sample slivers. There's a nice balance between European and domestic makers — look for Brillat Savarin triple-creme from Normandy; Yellow Buck Camembert from California; and Sweet Grass Dairy pecan chevre from right here in Georgia. The meat case has several varieties of cured hams, assorted salamis, pâté and duck confit. And there's always a little something tasty to snack on — recently it was tiny wine biscuits and tapenade.
SANDWICHES & SOUPS: Assembled from the various goodies in the deli case and good quality breads, Savor sandwiches are lovely things, if not exactly huge. On a recent visit, Jambon French ham with Gruyere sandwich had a huge smear of soft Normandy butter, tangy cornichons and a ciabatta-style bread that was chewy-good. Roast beef with Gorgonzola Dolce is a sinfully rich combo, balanced with snappy arugula and a drizzle of sweet balsamic. There are more than a dozen other sandwich offerings, including tuna and chicken salad, house-made pimento cheese, and creamy chevre with tapenade, oven-dried tomatoes and local greens. The daily soup selection (available by the cup, bowl or quart) might be chicken gumbo, lobster bisque or Italian wedding. The minestrone is a thick blend of assorted beans, chunky tomatoes and a bit of basil in a red broth. Dessert has to be a couple of buttery-crisp Tate's chocolate chip cookies — maybe the best commercial cookie in the world. Get any sandwich with the soup of the day for $5.99. The boxed lunch comes with a sandwich, chips, and two chocolate chip cookies for the price of the sandwich plus $2.25.
