PONCEY-HIGHLAND

Manuel's Tavern

The old-school, no-fuss mountain of comfort Manuel's used to serve was the ultimate beer chaser. But at the end of '07, management tweaked some menu items, including the beloved nachos. They're still good, but if you want them even better, ask for them the "old way." Servers and bartenders will know what you mean. The difference is in the cheese: The new way sports cheese sauce in place of shredded cheese. Order it with chili, chicken or black beans. All versions come with diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, green onions and jalapeños. Ask for sides of guacamole, salsa and sour cream. $6.95-$7.95. 602 N. Highland Ave. 404-525-3447, www.manuelstavern.comMap & more info.
