Krystal and White Castle knew it: Hamburgers mysteriously become yummier when miniaturized. Owner Chris Johnson says the beef sliders at this retro-cool bar are the best-selling app. Four little lean ground beef patties lightly seasoned with salt and pepper hit the grill, then are topped with shredded white and yellow cheddar. The burgers are served on Engelman's Bakery buns and topped with sliced leeks and Roma tomatoes. Ketchup and mustard come on the side.

MIDTOWN
Cypress Street Pint & Plate
A meatball slider adds an Italian twist to the usual burger-cheese-onion formula at this neighborhood bar. Beef and pork meatballs bathed in pomodoro sauce are served on soft dinner rolls. The mini sandwiches, topped with arugula and fresh Parm, stay moist with a dollop of Caesar dressing.
• $9 for three, $17 for a six-pack. 817 W. Peachtree St., Atlanta. 404-815-9243, www.toastrestaurant.com.
SANDY SPRINGS
Food 101
