The Monkey at Shorty's PizzaPublished on: 05/24/2007
Bartender Ellen Mills of Shorty's Pizza (3701 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker) grew tired of serving the same old Mind Eraser. "I really like bananas," she says. So Mills reached for a bottle of banana schnapps and renamed this two-person drink the Monkey. She pours vodka, Kahlúa and soda water in a pint glass over ice and tops it with the schnapps. "I put two straws in the glass and tell them to race to the bottom."

While hunting for summer cocktails, we came across the Fuzzy Manhattan recipe courtesy of Knob Creek bourbon. Pour 1 ounce of bourbon, 1 ounce of distilled water, 1/2 ounce of peach schnapps and three dashes of bitters into a glass two-thirds full of ice. Stir, then strain into a martini glass. Dress it up with a lemon twist.
MARTINI-TOPIA?
The dictionary defines utopia as an ideally perfect place. That's a bold claim for Utopia Martini & Tapas Lounge (840 Marietta St. N.W., Atlanta). Try its Utopian Dream and see if it stands by its claim. Orange vodka, lychee liqueur, melon liqueur, pineapple juice and passion fruit juice meet in a 'tini glass. Bartenders seal the deal with a grenadine sinker.
