SPIRITS

Bourbon Street Nightmare

Published on: 10/17/2007

When hunting Halloweeny cocktails, Spirits looked no farther than the Big Easy. Both tourists and locals arguably swill more hooch per capita on Bourbon Street alone than just about any place on the planet. And New Orleans is home to voodoo, juju, Anne Rice and countless other ghouls and goblins, too. So we consulted Marvin Allen, a mix master at the Carousel Bar in the Hotel Monteleone (214 Rue Royale, New Orleans). In turn, he passed on a recipe for the Bourbon Street Nightmare. Bourbon, orange juice and blood orange syrup keep things pumping. A drink even Lestat would love.

LARGE LOBSTER

While most folks size up the crustaceans at Red Lobster restaurants (1805 East-West Connector, Austell, and other locations), Spirits worries more about the capacity of its cocktail glasses. Both the Lobsterita and Alotta Colada come in 24-ounce glasses. The former features Sauza Gold tequila and comes in either regular or strawberry. The colada hits the table with a Captain Morgan rum sidecar.

SPECIALS AT THE CLUBHOUSE

The Clubhouse (3393 Peachtree Road, Suite 3054, Atlanta) is currently running a special on four drinks made with Johnny Love vodka. They go for $8 each with the most popular being the Pineapple Cosmopolitan. It's thrown together the traditional way with the addition of pineapple-flavored vodka and a splash of pineapple juice. The bar also features both the Peach and Razz Mojitos. For the latter, bartenders muddle fresh raspberries with mint and lime.
