SPIRITS
A fresh use for Fresca?Published on: 11/15/2007
Fresca, that citrus soda from the '70s, has a new use. Spirits found a simple recipe in our e-mail box calling for its crisp bite and a jolt of tequila. For the Hornitos Paloma, pack a glass with cubed ice, and fill half the glass with Hornitos Plata tequila. Top it off with Fresca and garnish with a lime wedge.

GOING INTERCONTINENTAL
Looking for a nightcap and a bite? When in Buckhead, try the XO Bar located inside the InterContinental Buckhead hotel (3315 Peachtree Road N.E., Atlanta). Boasting a massive selection of cognac, XO has specialty cocktails, too. Its menu draws from drink recipes from InterContinental hotels across the country. The N'awlins Praline Martini comes straight out of the Big Easy with vanilla vodka, and DeKuyper Buttershots and Frangelico liqueurs. The bar oozes hip and swank, and a jazz band finds its groove Tuesdays-Saturdays. Follow the drink with a snack or meal across the lobby at Au Pied De Cochon, the hotel's 24-hour French restaurant.
A NEW ROSE
The bartenders at Little Alley & Tapas Bar (690 Holcomb Bridge Road, Roswell) put their own new twist on the Jack Rose. They pour 2 ounces of Laird's AppleJack blended whiskey, 1 ounce of Pama pomegranate liqueur, 1 ounce Cointreau and 2 ounces of fresh lemon juice into a shaker with ice. Then they shake the mixture, strain it into a tall glass, and garnish with an apple slice.
