Hennessy Carrot Cake

Published on: 12/31/2007

If you haven't overdosed on confections this holiday season, you might be up for the Hennessy Carrot Cake at Room at Twelve (400 W. Peachtree St., Atlanta). Fresh carrot juice jingles and mingles with cinnamon, Hennessy and more. A special cream topper with cinnamon schnapps and Grand Marnier seals the deal. See recipe below.

The bartenders at Neighbor's Pub (752-C N. Highland Ave., Virginia-Highland) are pouring a little whimsy with drinks like the Going Japanese. Bartenders drop a shot of Gekkeikan cold sake into a pint glass with Samuel Adams. The Flu Shot has Jagermeister mixing it up with Red Bull.

CH-CH-CH-CHANGES

Bartenders Steve King and Owen Thomson of the bar Bourbon (2321 18th St., Washington) sent over a concoction they dub Time for a Change. The robust recipe takes 2 1/2 parts Jim Beam black bourbon, 1/4 part triple sec, a dash of orange bitters and 1/2 parts each of lemon juice, blueberry juice, and honey simple syrup. Combine in a cocktail shaker with ice and serve it in a sugar-rimmed martini glass.
