SPIRITS
The Pom-PomeritaPublished on: 01/24/2008
With this year's Super Bowl kicking off in Arizona on Feb. 3, Spirits suggests skipping the ice-laden beer cooler and mix up margaritas come game day instead. While recently checking our e-mail box, we completed a recipe pass from the folks at 4cocktails.com. The Pom-Pomerita doesn't get its name from the cheerleading accessory but rather the pomegranate juice that meets up with Hornitos Plata tequila, triple sec and lime juice.
SPEAKING OF MARGARITAS ...

Sure, the frosty winter weather doesn't exactly conjure up images of Cinco de Mayo. But while we're talking margaritas, don't forget Pozole (1044 Greenwood Ave., Atlanta). The staff says it serves whopping amounts of house margaritas. Cuervo Gold tequila does the liquid flamenco with triple sec, freshly squeezed orange juice and the restaurant's homemade sour mix. It comes by the glass or in a 44-ounce pitcher. Prefer a little flavor? Pozole offers 10 flavors. According to the bar folk, jalapeño and pomegranate get the most play.
ANOTHER ROUND
Our margarita mission takes us next to Castleberry Hill and the No Mas Cantina (180 Walker St., Atlanta). The word around the bar is its classic margarita moves the most. 1800 Silver tequila, Grand Marnier, Cointreau, a touch of lime juice and a splash of soda provide the lifeblood. Or bypass 'ritas altogether with a Mojito Frambuesa starring Bacardi Razz rum, mint and lime.
