Sweetwater Creek contains 9 miles of trails that pass by the ruins of a Civil War-era textile mill and follow along a stream that meanders through beautiful hardwood forests. The park was created to save the unique natural and cultural history in the area.
Degree of Difficulty: Easy to moderate
Fees: Parking $3
Dogs: Permitted; Must be on leash
Hours of operation: Open 7 days/week; Park: 7 a.m.-10 p.m.;
Trails close at dark
How to get there: Take I-20 west from Atlanta, exit #44 at Thornton Road, turn left and go 1/4 mile. Turn right on Blairs Bridge Road, go 2 miles and turn left on Mount Vernon Road.
