SINCE THE FIRST location opened in Buckhead in 1983, Fellini's Pizza has been one of the bargain-priced pleasures of dining out in Atlanta. The seventh Fellini's restaurant recently opened in the old Greyhound bus station on Commerce Drive in downtown Decatur. Other than a better beer list, the menu is the same as the other locations, featuring just three simple but tasty items: thin crust pizza, humongous calzones and loaded salads.
FORM AND FUNCTION: Like at other Fellini's, the focus here is on an expansive front courtyard area, with low stucco walls and a bubbling European-style fountain. The clean, modern lines of the building are adorned only with a neon sign that spells out Fellini's Pizza. Inside, you order at the counter, then go find a table and wait for your food, which is usually out in a jiffy.

SLICES AND PIES: A plain cheese slice is $1.65 and a medium pie starts at $10.50. But the best deal has to be the Fellini's Special slice, topped with pepperoni, Italian sausage, sliced meatballs, mushrooms, onions green peppers, green and black olives, and extra cheese. For $2.95, it's a meal in itself. And even piled with that bounty of meat and veggies, the crust is remarkably crispy, with a bready, crunchy end crust. There's also a vegetarian version, with tomatoes and fresh garlic. Available only as a whole pie, white pizza is a creamy treat, baked with mozzarella and ricotta cheese, topped with fresh garlic and oregano. The salad is another gut buster, served in a big bowl with iceberg and romaine lettuce, a load of vegetables, shredded mozzerella and creamy Italian dressing.
BETTER BEER: Nothing goes better with pizza than beer. And the selection here is the best of any Fellini's locations. Sweetwater 420 and Widmer Hefeweizen are available on tap. Bottled beers include Brooklyn IPA and Brown Ale, Flying Dog Pale Ale and Road Dog and Rogue Dead Guy.
