Atlanta rapper Future took to Twitter over the weekend to post a few cryptic messages possibly in response to the shooting death of his friend OG Double D (or OG Double "Dee," as he was sometimes referred to) last week.
“Thank god everyday,” Future tweeted on Sunday, and then a few hours later added, “On yo way to success judas will raise his hand #betrayal.”
Double D, a Miami rapper who had ties to Future’s Freebandz imprint and was an associate of hip-hop mogul Rick Ross, was shot multiple times on Thursday afternoon while driving his Mercedes Maybach on I-20. He later died at a nearby hospital.
The funeral for Double D, born James Lewiel, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Life Church in Decatur. Visitation will take place from noon-8 p.m. Friday at the church.
In his song “Mollywood,” Double D references Atlanta – “I’m in A-town, black Hollywood…”
The rapper was also known for enjoying his wealth (the Maybach retails for at least $400,000) and he raps about “living luxury” in this clip for the song “Luxury.”
