Classic rock fans have new reasons to rejoice this summer as Bob Dylan and Robert Plant both announced new tours today.
Dylan is hitting the road with Wilco and My Morning Jacket for the Americanarama Festival of Music, which will play Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood at 5:30 p.m. June 29, the third date of the three-month tour.
Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. April 27 ($35-$89.50), but a pre-sale begins at 10 a.m. April 24. Check www.bobdylan.com for pre-sale info.
Dylan announced the tour on his website Monday morning with a poster that teased, “Meet me there – Beat me there!” Some dates on the tour will also include the Richard Thompson Electric Trio and Ryan Bingham.
As for Plant, he will pack up the Sensational Shape Shifters for their first North American tour, which has a date set for July 19 at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park in Alpharetta. Tickets ($39.50-$79.50) are on sale at noon April 26.
The band consists of members of Plant’s mid-2000s band Strange Sensation – Justin Adams (guitar), Billy Fuller (bass), John Baggot (keys) and Liam “Skin” Tyson (guitar) – as well as Juldeh Camara (African violin and banjo) and Dave Smith (drums). Strange Sensation recorded “Dreamland” and “Mighty ReArranger” with Plant in 2002 and 2005, respectively.
The tour will roll from June 20 in Dallas to July 27 in Brooklyn.
