Country singer George Jones has died at 81. 

The Country Music Hall of Famer was hospitalized in Nashville April 18 - the day  before a scheduled concert at the Fox Theatre - with a fever and irregular blood pressure.

The man affectionately known as The Possum was in the midst of a farewell tour that was scheduled to wrap in Nashville in November with a slew of musical guests paying homage to his legacy.
