It's been a heady stretch for Decatur singer-songwriter Caroline Herring, who performs at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday as part of this weekend's Poverty is Real Concert Series at Eddie's Attic.
The Herring shows will mark the release of her new album, “Roxaboxen Songs,” and also include selections from her upcoming children’s album, “A Book is To Sing.”
Just last weekend, Herring was honored by the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters for her 2012 album "Camilla," while her husband, Emory University history professor Joseph Crespino, received an award for his book, "Strom Thurmond's America,"
The Eddie's Attic concerts benefit Decatur Cooperative Ministry, which works to prevent homelessness in Decatur and DeKalb County. Advance tickets, $10 adults and $8 children, via www.eddiesattic.com.
