After TMZ (supposedly, allegedly, possibly) incorrectly reported that Lil Wayne had lapsed into a coma and was being given his last rites Friday after suffering a seizure, the gossip-entertainment site pulled back on the severity of the news (you can stay up to date here...).
A tweet from Wayne’s account (@LilTunechi) later Friday evening assured fans that he was “good,” but that didn’t stop many in the Atlanta rap/R&B community from taking to social media to express their anger at the story.
“He str8, don’t believe the rumors,” B.o.B. tweeted a couple of hours after TMZ’s story posted.
2 Chainz first tweeted, simply, “Prayers.” Then later, “Media should be ashamed.”
But it was T.I. and Usher, both out at SXSW in Austin, Texas, who had the most to say.
Usher, a surprise guest during the Afghan Whigs' set, asked the crowd to send good vibes to his recovering friend.
“One of my fellow artists, good friend, Lil Wayne is going through a real hard time right now, y'all. And I just want to send a lot of positive attitude about his state. And a lot of positive energy out there right now,” Usher said.
T.I. also took to Twitter later Friday night with an expletive-laced rant at TMZ.
“Just holla'd @my Lil bruh Tunechi...& he skraight! TMZ some f***-n***** for reporting that [h**-a**-s***]!!! That man daughter is like mines.”
T.I. also shared some thoughts with AXS TV/Skee TV while in Austin. Check out the video, but be warned there is a bit of language.
