We haven’t heard from Janet Jackson (musically) in six years, and, according to vocal producer and engineer Ian Cross, she’s reportedly in the studio working on new music.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cross gave an interview to BarefoorSound.com and said, “The new album is going to be great. It's a process. There's a lot in store, yet to come."
Cross helped engineer Jackson’s last three studio albums and added that the recordings have taken place in Qatar, Paris and the Middle East (don’t forget, Jackson’s husband, Wissam Al Mana is a Qatari businessman, which explains the globe-trotting).
Jackson, meanwhile, responded to the interview in typically cryptic style. She tweeted: "If there is a new project, you'll hear it from my lips.”
Meanwhile, the interview with Cross seems to have been removed from the site (it now says it’s “coming soon”).
A Jackson being secretive. How surprising.
