Conan O'Brien at Antico, Carter Museum, Church, Empire State South and private wedding

Gio and Coco at Antico
Gio and Coco at Antico

By Jennifer Brett

Conan O'Brien is in Atlanta for a few days taping his show from the Tabernacle. Following Tuesday's show he headed to Antico, the happening West Side spot where Giovanni Di Palma and his addictive pizza draw celebrities to his wood-burning oven like pretty moths to a 900-degree flame.

Coco and his kids showed up shortly after the show wrapped at around 6 p.m. and broke bread with Di Palma and his son Johnny.

Previously we reported that he dined at Empire State South on Friday, where he posed for photos with diners. He posted this photo of himself on Easter with a parishioner, following Mass. Before that he stopped by the Jimmy Carter Presidential Museum and posed for pictures with other visitors. And here's news that he randomly crashed a wedding? A friendly guy, that Mr. O'Brien.

Anyway, back to Antico. Somehow the tall, whippet-thin late-night host manages to eat like a lumberjack. Shortly after arriving and enjoying a tour of the kitchen, Antico's San Gennaro and Bianca pies started disappearing and then it was time for dessert. Gelato, anyone?

Enter Donald Sargent, owner of Morelli's Gourment Ice Cream & Desserts, whose sweets will be featured at Di Palma's Bar Antico, scheduled to open this spring.

Thoroughly stuffed, O'Brien scribbled a farewell on a pizza peel:  "Taking a bite of your pizza was like losing my virginity all over again. And that was 3 years ago."

Heh.

O'Brien's show tapes again this evening and Thursday.
