Chris Tucker surprises Atlanta audience

Chris Tucker took the stage at Atlanta's Laughing Skull Lounge Tuesday night. Tucker, who starred in "Silver Lingings Playbook" with Oscar winners Jennifer Lawrence and Robert DeNiro, along with Bradley Cooper, showed up during Open Mic Night to work through some new material.

"About 15 people went before him," said Amanda Tate of Atlanta, who happened to be in the audience. "Right before he came out they announced they would have a special guest. One more act and then Chris Tucker took the stage."

The crowd, as you 'd expect, went wild.

"Everyone was shocked," Tate said. "A lot of ladies were screaming and really freaking out."

Tucker's 20-minute set worked in jokes ripped from the headlines, including bits on President Obama, the late former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. The performance was definitely something of a workshop for Tucker.

"He had a legal pad sitting on the stool next to him and he referred to it a few times," Tate said.

Tucker is on tour right now and has an upcoming performance scheduled at the Johnny Mercer Theater in Savannah Later this month. Here is the link for tickets to that and other shows he has planned.

Laughing Skull holds Open Mic Night on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Wonder if he'll be back tonight?

"I really enjoyed his set last night," Tate said. "I felt bad for the people who had to follow Chris Tucker!"
