Reese Witherspoon, arrested in Atlanta on Friday following a traffic stop and keeping a low profile ever since, has been here working on a movie called "The Good Lie." The film about a woman (Witherspoon) who assists a refugee who locates to America from Africa, has previously filmed at Peachtree Baptist Church, Sugarloaf Mills Mall and downtown, at Marietta Street and Howell Mill Road.
Witherspoon on Sunday night attended a New York premiere of her new movie "Mud," coming out this Friday, but then scrapped some interviews that had been scheduled to promote the movie. Unfortunately she's now starring in a silent film: this video of her being walked into the Fulton County Jail.
Meanwhile back here in Atlanta, filming has continued on "The Good Lie," evidently unimpeded by the recent unpleasantness. It did some filming (minus Reese) Tuesday at the Georgian Terrace, a favorite spot among filmmakers. Today it's filming in a factory building off McFarland Parkway in Alpharetta. She's not on-set today, either.
Chances are she won't be spending much time in Atlanta; the movie was expected to film here for only a few weeks before moving to Africa. Witherspoon and her husband, who faces a DUI charge, may or may not be returning next month for a court hearing. She faces a disorderly conduct charge. Neither she nor husband Jim Toth attended a Monday court hearing; proceedings were over in less than a minute and the case was continued.
