"Watsons," a 1960s period piece, set the scene with a bunch of classic cars. Look at the fins on this thing!

"Anchorman 2," the Will Ferrell comedy that's been filming all over Atlanta, is filming at Marietta Middle School today.

The school formerly known as Marietta High School, before a new high school was built, is located in one of Marietta's historic neighborhoods and is home to historic Northcutt Stadium. The high school football team still plays there.

We walked by today and it looked like crews were still in set-up mode. Lots of activity in the parking lot - trucks, gear, lighting, etc. We'll check in later to see what's going on.

We did see a guy in 70s threads walking around but it wasn't Ferrell or any of his cast mates, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, James Marsden or Harrison Ford. An extra, we're guessing.

A friend reported spotting Ferrell and Carell here in Marietta today though. They've also both been spotted at Antico and Gio's Chicken, the adjacent pizza-poultry palaces owned by Giovanni Di Palma.

AM2, which has shot scenes at the Silver Skillet and Olympic Flame restaurants, Peachtree Center and private homes in Inman Park and Buckhead, filmed a bar scene at Manuel's on N. Highland Avenue this week and we're told it heads to St. Simons Island next month. (Since it's unlikely the AJC will send us down there to investigate we'd love it if, should you happen to be on the SSI pier at the end of May and see Ron Burgundy saunter past, you would let us know.)

In other movies-in-Marietta news the Hallmark Channel's movie "The Watsons Go To Birmingham" filmed up on the Square on Wednesday. All sorts of lovely vintage cars wer parked in front of the historic Strand Theatre. Neat!

While we were walking over to case the AM2 set we happened to pass this house on Kennesaw Avenue where Woody Harrelson filmed a scene for the movie "Zombieland" in 2009

And although we'd like to scrub it from our memory the dreadful movie "The Watch" filmed scenes here including the opening shot on the Marietta Square. The fountain in Glover Park looked lovely on screen but it was pretty much downhill the minute the movie started. Ah well.

That's it for now. Have a great weekend.
