Beyonce: So What If I Lip-Synched?

O say can you sing?

So what if she lip synched?

Us Magazgine, quoting some undisclosed source from Team Beyonce, reports: “She didn't think there was anything wrong with" using a track when performing the National Anthem during this week's inaugural festivities.

"Pavarotti has done it! It was freezing out, and if she messed up just one note, that would have been the story," the Us source reportedly said. "Everybody uses these tracks, and the music director advised it. Any big outdoor live performance is almost always with some kind of track."

(Up next: who will out the music director and haul him or her before Congress to testify?)

The lip synching did capture the imagination of many wags on social media. The Us source notes that Bey didn't pull a complete Milli Vanilli.

"She did sing, but used a track," the source said.

By the way Aretha Franklin, who performed at President Obama's first inauguration, was understanding. She said the January chill is not good singing weather and noted that Beyonce did a beautiful job on the recorded version.

And come on, it's not like she made up a fake dead boyfriend.
