Reese Witherspoon, arrested in Atlanta recently after "one too many" as she has put it, discussed the recent unpleasantness this morning on "Good Morning America."
(Here's the arrest video TMZ posted).
"We thought we were fine to drive and we absolutely were not," she said. "It's just completely unacceptable and we are so sorry and embarrassed. We know better. We shouldn't have done that."
TMZ reports she has entered a plea of "no contest" and will pay a $213 fine, while her husband Jim Toth, arrested on a DUI charge, pleaded guilty and gets probation and community service. As with the first appearance following the arrest, Witherspoon did not attend.
Asked why she didn't call a car service during the GMA appearance, Witherspoon said that was a mistake and vowed it'll never happen again.
She also was asked about her snippy "Do you know who I am" comments. She said she "had no idea" what she was saying and panicked. She even told the arresting officer she was pregnant, which is not true.
"I am so sorry. I was so disrespectful," Witherspoon said, adding that she has police officers in her family and often works with law enforcement. The hardest part, she added, is discussing the incident with her kids.
"When a police officer tells you to stay in the car, you stay in the car," she said. "I learned that for sure."
Witherspoon, who is promoting the movie "Mud," has been in Atlanta filming "The Good Lie." It filmed at a Waffle House on Wednesday and at the airport on Monday.
