The Samuel L. Jackson-Jessica Alba movie "Barely Lethal" has gotten started in metro Atlanta, and is filming in Marietta today.
Since I live out here I ran by the filming location this morning. The movie, according to imdb, is about "a 16-year-old international assassin yearning for a 'normal' adolescence (who) fakes her own death and enrolls as a senior in a suburban high school."
So the project chose Marietta High School as its filming site.
The school is just west of town, on Whitlock Avenue as it turns into Dallas Highway/Ga. 120. Since it was early there really was no traffic when I went by and I doubt it'll impact traffic too terribly. If you're heading to Publix, Target and such out on Dallas Highway and fear a tie-up you may want to circumvent the area and take Burnt Hickory to Barrett Parkway and get around it. Or, if you want to take a look at all the action it's obviously easy to spot from the road.
The school is hosting its "7th Annual Batter-Up Pancake Breakfast" until 10:30 a.m. today to support the baseball team according to a notice I saw posted on our Marietta community Facebook page. For $5 you can have breakfast, aid the cause and, I am guessing, watch the movie filming. Neat!
"Barely Lethal," also starring Hailee Steinfeld, Sophie Turner, Thomas Mann, Emma Holzer and Thom Bishops, will be filming in both metro Atlanta and the Perry area, south of the gnat line, through mid-December.
‘Bachelorette’ Andi Dorfman and fiance Josh Murray, 'RHOA' stars Kenya Moore and Cynthia Bailey, attended opening night of Cirque Du Soleil's 'Amaluna' at the Big Top at Atlantic Station on October 3, 2014 in Atlanta.
