"Dumb and Dumber To" stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, filmmakers Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly, and the rest of the crew filming in metro Atlanta these days, received a special visit from another group of filmmakers this week.
Jenni Gold and Robbie Heisner were in town for a screening of the documentary "CinemAbility," which takes a look at the opportunities for persons with disabilites in the film industry. The film includes clips from other Farrelly films and interview segments with Peter Farrelly. Since the Farrellys are also in Atlanta, filming "Dumb and Dumber To," so they were able to get together. They all met up on the Marietta Square, where D&D2 filmed on Monday and Tuesday, prior to the screening.
"When you hear the words 'documentary' and 'disability,' you might think, oh no," said Gold, the documentary's director. "We do it in a way that's entertaining and fun."
Indeed, the movie features clips from scores of movies and interviews with industry leaders including Ben Affleck, Geena Davis, Jamie Foxx, Ken Howard, Helen Hunt, William H. Macy, Garry Marshall and Gary Sinise. It is frank, thought-provoking and both serious and funny.
"Our message is important," Gold said. "It's one of inclusion, if you've ever felt excluded or stereotyped. We're trying to get the word out."
