Atlanta could probably claim Shaquille O'Neal as our own these days (he's been spotted here and here and here and here) but he's a Jersey guy.

Now the Newark native is getting into politics in his home state, endorsing New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's reelection bid.

"I don't endorse many politicians," O'Neal says in a new campaign ad. "But Chris Christie is different. He's working with me to bring jobs back to our cities and on a new program to help kids from tough neighborhoods get ahead."

See the entire ad here:

Christie has posted a number of comments about O'Neal on his Twitter page.

"Hanging out with is one of the few things that I do as Governor that makes my kids think I’m actually cool," Christie tweeted recently when the two paired up for a Boys and Girls Club event.

This summer, O'Neal appeared in the ensemble comedy "Grown Ups 2" and reunited with its star, Adam Sandler, for a role in "The Familymoon."

Political affiliations aside, O'Neal adheres to a policy I think we could all get behind: see if you agree.
