Something's being shot today in Kennesaw, where gun ownership is mandatory. In this case it's the cameras that are firing.
Looks like the Sundance pilot "The Red Road" is filming at a facility at 6997 Keene Street, near School Drive. Parking for the crew and extras is nearby in area businesses' parking lots. It doesn't look like traffic is being affected and I could not see that any streets were closed. I wasn't able to find out much since (as usual) security guards posted at the set told me to scram as soon as they spotted me checking things out. Pffftt. It's like they don't know who I am or something.
Anyway Sundance says the new show "isa hard-hitting drama that revolves around a local cop (Martin Henderson) struggling to keep his family together while simultaneously policing two clashing communities: the small town where he grew up and the neighboring mountains, home of a Native American tribe. After a terrible tragedy and coverup occurs involving the cop’s wife (Julianne Nicholson), an unholy alliance is forged between the cop and Phillip Kopus (Jason Momoa), a dangerous member of the tribe that will come back to haunt all involved."
It filmed in east Cobb County the other day. I'm not sure how long they'll be in Kennesaw, since the city's press guy didn't respond to email or voice mail messages. But I do hope there's time for the "Red Road" folks to check out Harold's Pawn Shop before they split town. It's right around the corner from where they are filming, and sells these awesome T-shirts.
