Alafair Persons is going to be GREAT when the West Side performance of "Little Mermaid" finally takes the stage at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre on the Marietta Square. Tonight's performance has been pushed to Feb. 4 due to the weather.
A group of West Side Elementary School students were looking forward to tonight. The Drama Club, whose members range from first through fifth grades, were to stage a production of "The Little Mermaid" tonight at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre.
The weather has put those plans on ice, disappointing the kids to no end. The show's been pushed to Feb. 4, which is little solace to those who made special arrangements to attend tonight's event.
"We bought 18 tickets for friends and family and Nana and Poppie drove over 400 miles for it," said Ben Persons, whose 8-year-old daughter, Alafair, was excited about her roles as ship captain and a fish.
Dad tried cheering up his girl.
"I bought these flowers to cheer her up, but she's still sobbing," he posted with a photo of the pretty blooms on Facebook. "Not my favorite day."
We know Alafair will be great when "The Little Mermaid" finally takes the stage!
