Are you thinking of juicing in 2013?

Have you been thinking about juicing but feel like you wouldn't know where to start?

First of all, if you want to juice fresh organic produce, you really do want a juicer and not just a blender. Theoretically, you could blend the produce and then strain the juice, but the most rewarding way to juice is with a juicer.

Figure out how committed you are to juicing on a regular basis. If you are really just dipping a toe in before diving into a regular juicing routine, don't make a major investment to start. Instead, look for a juicer that is around $100; it will be fine to get you started and may be all you ever want.

If you find that juicing works for you and you'd like to do more of it, you'll have a better idea of what you are looking for when you get ready to trade up.

To learn more about different types of juicers:

If you're thinking, what would I possibly juice and why, then start with celery, which helps keep your body flushed out and may help lower cholesterol.

Partly because celery acts as a natural diuretic, it has been claimed that celery actually has negative calories. Whether that's true or not, it definitely does have great benefits and is a perfect base vegetable for your juices. Start with 2 or 3 stalks of celery, an apple or pear and half a cucumber.

As you learn to love it -- or find a combo juice that you do love -- you can add more green. Check out PressedJuicery.com's site for some of their juice combinations.

Bottoms up!
