Carrie Underwood has rarely ever found herself in anything remotely controversial.
But one Tennessee lawmaker found her Tweets about an 'ag gag" bill in Tennessee annoying. The bill would require anyone filming livestock abuse to give the videos to authorities within 48 hours. While this may sound innocuous, it would place animal rights groups who compile videos of long-term abuse at a farm in potential legal trouble and in fact, scare them off from doing that type of work.
She Tweeted last Thursday:
“Shame on TN lawmakers for passing the Ag Gag bill. If Gov. Bill Haslam signs this, he needs to expect me at his front door. Who’s with me?”
“@BillHaslam Please don’t sign the Ag Gag bill. Think about the welfare of the animals as well as the consumers. I’m begging you…”
@BillHaslam It’s not all about big business. Please look out for the little guys! Show TN that you have a heart… #NoAgGag
Tennessee State Representative Andy Holt responded to Carrie:
@carrieunderwood Have you read the bill? I assume not. You are only going off your HSUS talking points. Use logic, not emotion.
Underwood quickly bit back:
I should stick to singing? Wow...sorry, I'm just a tax paying citizen concerned for the safety of my family. #NoAgGaghttp://www . wsmv.com/story/22027811 /carrie-underwood-appeals-to-haslam-to-veto-animal-abuse-bill#.UXIHxAXHAKI.twitter …

Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze is set to perform this Thursday during the results show. The theme this week: one-hit wonders and singer's choice. I'm sure we won't be hearing "Macarena," "Who Let the Dogs Out" or "Gangnam Style." Let's hope we get some interesting song picks this week from both themes.

Anybody missing Lazaro?

Mario Lopez will be hosting "The X Factor" this fall again. Khloe Kardashian was not asked back. Let's hope Simon Cowell just leaves Mario by himself. He does just fine that way.

Last week, I spoke with Vedo, the remaining Atlantan on 'The Voice" this season. (The last one, Jamila Thompson, was given about ten seconds of airtime and quickly dispatched.)
The 20 year old will perform in the battle rounds either tonight or tomorrow. The R&B singer was selected by only one person: Usher. Vedo (real name: Wilbart McCoy) moved to Atlanta from Indiana at age 14 and graduated South DeKalb High School in 2011.
He said last year, he tried out for "The Voice," and didn't get a yes. But they tracked him down two months later and said they wanted him on the show after all. He knew Usher was there, so he purposely chose a Justin Bieber song 'Boyfriend." (Usher helped discover Bieber.). "Having Usher turn around was really what I was going for," he said.
He changed the melody around but felt he "didn't take away from the song."
Vedo has been a big fan of Usher, from "My Way" to "U Got it Bad." "He's been in the industry as long as I've been living," Vedo said. "It's hard to stay relevant in this business and he's stayed relevant."
Vedo began recording music at age 12 while in South Bend, Ind. He has been trying to be a star ever since and really thinks he has it. "I admire how he does it," he said. "I'm a dancer as well." He says he's done more than 1,000 shows and puts songs and videos on YouTube.
He likes the positivity that radiates from "The Voice." And he's still grieving over his mom's death due to cancer Feb. 11. Fortunately, she knew he had at least passed the blind auditions. "I was really happy for her to be able to see that," he said, "to see what I'm going to do the rest of my life.... Although she has passed away, she's really been keeping me sane. She's been keeping me on the right track. My mental process is totally different now that she's gone. I realize you have to cherish every moment you have with the person you love."
