The changes just keep on coming at CBS Atlanta.
Now Tracye Hutchins, the last remaining original member of "Better Mornings" from 2007, will move to co-host evening newscasts with Stephany Fisher, an anchor at CBS Atlanta for the past decade. According to a memo sent out today by Lane Michaelsen, the news director:
I am happy to announce that Tracye is moving from CBS Atlanta 4:30-7am to co-anchor the evening newscasts in September. Tracye and Stephany have shown on multiple occasions that they are a powerful team. It was a tough decision for Tracye to leave the morning show after 6 years but she is excited about the new challenge. One more anchor will be hired to join the evening team.
JaQuitta Williams, who did a celebrity guest spin as DJ on Majic 107.5/97.5 Monday, lost her anchor gig at CBS Atlanta in June.
Hutchins will be replaced mornings by Michelle Burdo starting August 26.
According to a press release, Burdo most recently worked at the Fox affillate WOFL in Orlando, where she served as a morning anchor and reporter. Before that, Burdo honed her skills in other Florida markets, including Fort Meyers and Gainesville. She covered Hurricane Katrina when the storm first hit, and later produced an investigative story about insurance companies, and the hurricane victims still struggling to recover.
"Michelle has a wake you up personality with energy and genuine hope for each day. She is a morning person who knows the news and knows how to bring a smile," Michaelsen wrote in an email.
And her thoughts on the Hutchins Move: "If you watch Tracye and Stephany together you see they are a team. Each makes the other better and they are great friends on and off the air."
The station is still seeking a replacement for its former "Better Mornings" host Brandon Rudat, who was let go a few weeks ago.
