98.9/The Bone, which was an active rock format for five months, will become 98.9/The Walk at noon, an interesting country/Christian hybrid.
Cumulus, which owns the station, stunted for a couple of hours after simulcasting Rock 100.5 for since Friday, when Rock 100.5 began incorporating Bone music. During the stunting, it played snippets of songs with the word "Walk" in it such as Dire Straits' "Walk of Life" and Zac Brown Band's "As She's Walking Away."
The pre-taped announcer named artists that would be featured: Carrie Underwood, MercyMe, Tim McGraw, LeAnn Rimes and Steven Curtis Chapman. She threw in words like 'positive" and "uplifting." Songs about drinkin' beer or chasing women are out. Songs about mom, love of God and dedicaction to our spouse are fair game. You can sign on to the Facebook page here. The I Heart Radio feed is still identifed as the Bone but you can listen to it here.
The first songs:
12:01 p.m. "But For the Grace of God" Keith Urban
12:06 p.m."Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain)" Gary Allan
12:10 p.m. "All of Creation" MercyMe
12:13 p.m. "Mama's Song" Carrie Underwood
12:17 p.m. "Drive" Alan Jackson
12:21 p.m. "Redeemed" Big Daddy Weave
12:27 p.m. "The Man I Want To Be' Chris Young
12:30 p.m.: "Should've Been Me" Citizen Way
The station can mostly be heard inside the Perimeter, hardly the obvious target audience for this format. What little audience it may draw might steal a few listeners from 104.7/The Fish or the country stations.
