ABC is trying out a new supernatural show pilot called "The Returned," which is going to shoot in Atlanta but will be set in a fictional city called Arcadia.

ABC is seeking a little paranormal activity with a TV drama pilot called "The Returned," which is set to tape in Atlanta and has Brad Pitt's production company attached to it.

Hollywood Reporter provided this description:

The Returnedlooks at what happens when the people you have mourned and buried suddenly appear on your doorstep as if not a day’s gone by? The lives of the people of Arcadia are forever changed when their deceased loved ones return.

The drama effort is penned by Criminal MindsAaron Zelman, with Brillstein Entertainment and Brad Pitt's Plan B attached to executive produce. The hourlong project is set up at ABC Studios.

The Georgia Film, Music and Digital entertainment office sent out this tweet today: (@gafmde)

ABC TV pilot “The Returned” is now accepting crew resumes. Send resume to thereturnedpilot@gmail.com

Having a pilot shot here does not mean the show will stay here. TNT's "Franklin & Bash," ABC's short-lived "Detroit 1-8-7," Fox's "The Following" and NBC's "Revolution" all taped their pilot episodes here but moved elsehwere once the pilots were picked up to be a series. But other shows such as VH1's "Single Ladies," USA Network's "Necessary Roughness" and the CW's "Vampire Diaries" have stayed put.

The Georgia film office said two other studios are shooting pilots here too but couldn't release details.

Sometimes shows with supernatural elements work such as "Charmed," "Lost" or "The Ghost Whisperer." But there are plenty that have failed, including Fox's "Alcatraz" last year, which featured supposedly dead prisoners coming back to life decades later.

According to Deadline.com, Charles McDougall will direct and executive produce the pilot. He has a good track record, directing the pilots for ABC's "Desperate Housewives," Showtime's "The Tudors," Fox's "The Mindy Project" and CBS's "The Good Wife."
