Part-time Atlantan Steve Harvey teared up recently on his new Chicago-based talk show after a surprise guest called in on his birthday in a video that has gone viral with 1.9 million page views in a week.
In the video above, Rich Liss called in to wish Harvey a happy birthday last week for his 56th birthday.
"Do you still love me, baby?" Liss said.
The moment Harvey saw Liss, he teared up.
"I love you man," Harvey said.
He told the audience that Liss and his wife Becky took him in when he was a struggling comic in Cleveland in the mid-1980s. "I didn't have nothing," he said. "These people owned a furniture store in Cleveland. They took me in and gave me my first contract with my little carpet-cleaning company. When I became a comedian at 27, I didn't have money to travel. They gave me an account at their travel agency. I ran up a bill like $11,000 just trying to travel and make it. They helped me out. Hey, man. I got money now, Rich! I'm going to send a plane to fly you up to Chicago for the show. I've been looking for you for years."
"You bailed me," he told Rich. "I never forgot it. Thank you.
