HLN "Morning Express" host Robin Meade hasn't let the sun set on her music career.
The chipper Atlanta resident known for her catchphrase "Good Morning Sunshine" is back with a second CD "Count on Me," which launched June 11. (It will be available on iTunes and Target.)
HLN, she said, has been wholly supportive of her musical career. The network even held an album launch party for her in New York City Wednesday night at The Cutting Room.
Under new president Jeff Zucker, Meade appears to be safe.
Zucker, who is revamping the CNN morning show, is keeping Meade's show untouched, which makes sense since she has a loyal audience that sometimes draws more viewers than CNN. She said Zucker told her, "You know yourself on air better than most people I've ever worked with. You are comfortable in your own skin and authentic. That shows. That makes you different."
And now that HLN has the Daytime Emmys, management decided it made sense to use their own talent. Meade this Sunday night will host the Emmys with "Good Morning America" weather anchor Sam Champion and HLN's "Showbiz Tonight" host A.J. Hammer.
She will be on the dais while the other two will work the backstage area and audience for interviews. She will also perform two nominated songs, one for Katie Couric's talk show by Sheryl Crow and another for ABC's "Good Afternoon America" by Little Big Town.
On her CD: She wrote seven of the 12 tracks. She also includes four covers, including Pretenders' "I'll Stand By You" and Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors." And there's a journalistic-related song called "This Just In."
On her journalistic style: She said she used to try to be a "serious journalist. You know that's not me. I am serious about my job and role. But I'll be the first to crack a joke on myself. I used to put myself in a box that news has to be formal. Reality television has helped us. I'm more like that."
On her job: "My job is to be an emotional guardian. We want to get you on your way with some semblance of a good attitude."
On the mood music: "We try to enhance the mood so we pay a lot of upbeat bumper music."
Favorite current artists: Pistol Annies, Miranda Lambert."And I'm fascinated by the fascination with Daft Punk."
